An opportunity to practise different sports at differents sights in order to promote Madrid as Olympic site 2016. The sites will show the different colors of the Olypic rings:

Red ring: Plaza de Cibeles- an Olympic village for everybody

Blue ring: Retiro Park- athletics, horse racing and water sports among others

Green ring: Paseo del Prado- boxing, fencing, gymnastics and more

Black ring: Paseo de Recoletos-  football, hockey, hand- and basketball

Yellow ring: Plaza de Neptuno- badminton, tennis, volleyball, etc.

This event will take place every year from now on.

Changing of the Guard at Royal Palace - Madrid

A new attraction for the visitors is taking place on Wednesdays: the changing of the guard in front of the Puerta del Príncipe at the Royal Palace. On the first Wednesday of the month there is another event, the Solemn Changing at the Plaza de la Armeria, also at the Royal Palace.
The first changing is performed by 4 members of the Royal Guard every 30 minutes fro 1200 to 1400. The guards wear uniform similars to those used at the beginning of the XXth century. At the same time the Music Band of the Royal Guards performs military marches.
The Solemn Changing commemorates those made daily during the times of Alfonso XII and Alfonso XIII. It lasts for about 40 minutes and over 400 guards and 100 horses take part in it.

1rst Press Photography Prize - Madrid

An exhibition showing the best photographies of the 1rst Press Photography Prize of the Madrilian Community - fotoCam - can be currently seen at the Casa de Correos,  at Puerta del Sol.

The winner of the contest is Francisco Javier Arcenillas of the Cover Agency. The jury decided that his foto reflected the  pluralism of our community.
The contest was only for professional photographers, who could participate with up to three photos.
The exhibition is now open to the public until June 8th and the entrance is free.
This is a unique opportunity to visit this spectacular building which nobody should miss.

19th World Petroleum Congress in Madrid

This year the 19th World Petroleum Congress will be held in Madrid.Its the 75th World Petroleum Council´s anniversary, where governments, industry and stakeholders come together to establish the sector´s future. The Congress starts on June 29th and will last until July, 3rd.

This congress takes place every 3 years.

The Congress is divided into Plenary Sessions, Best Practice Keynotes, Fora and Round Tables.

It will be held at the IFEMA - Feria de Madrid, next to the Campo de las Naciones.

The Spanish Organizing Committee offers up to 50 international students the opportunity to have free access to the Congress in exchange for helping with the Congress proceedings.
A special welcome has been organized for the participants. The famous Spanish dancer Saras Baras and the Tenor Jose Carreras will take part in this event.

Museum for Blind People in Madrid

The Spanish National Organization fo Blind People opened in 1992 the Typholologic Museum. It offeres blind people the possibilty to touch all pieces shown in its exhibitions.
There are three different areas, one dedicated to scale models of the most important buildings and monuments in the world, like the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal and also Madrilian monuments like the Puerta de Alcala or the Cibeles. Also for people who can see it is interesting to “see” these monuments with their hands.
Another area is dedicated to art pieces made by blind artists and the third one shows typholological materials.
The museum is located at calle La Coruña and open from Tuesdays to Fridays from 1000 to 1400 and from 1700 to 2000. On Saturdays from 1000 to 1400. Entrance is free.
