An opportunity to practise different sports at differents sights in order to promote Madrid as Olympic site 2016. The sites will show the different colors of the Olypic rings:

Red ring: Plaza de Cibeles- an Olympic village for everybody

Blue ring: Retiro Park- athletics, horse racing and water sports among others

Green ring: Paseo del Prado- boxing, fencing, gymnastics and more

Black ring: Paseo de Recoletos-  football, hockey, hand- and basketball

Yellow ring: Plaza de Neptuno- badminton, tennis, volleyball, etc.

This event will take place every year from now on.

Starting tomorrow and until next Sunday April 13th athletes from 33 countries take part in this event.Andrei Moiseev
Many famous athletes like Andrei Moiseev or Victor Horvath will try to win the championship.
This championship is part of the many event being organised in order to promote Madrid as sight for the Olympic Games 2016.
The modern Pentathlon includes 5 different sports: shooting, fencing, swimming, riding and a 3000m race.

Sergi Arola New Ambassador for Madrid 2016

The famous chef Sergi Arola will be nominated ambassador for Madrid 2016 tomorrow at 1200 o´clock.
In 2003 he won the National Gastronomy Prize as best chef. He studied in Barcelona and was part of Ferran Adria´s team.
in 1997 he opened his first restaurant in Madrid and in 2000 he already had to Michelin stars.
The nomination will take place at his restaurant Sergi Arola Gastro in Zurbano, 31.

Tennis Master Senior Championship Madrid

The Tennis Masters Senior Championship of the Comunidad de Madrid offers us the opportunity to see six of the best tennis players of all times. John McEnroe, Boris, Becker, Björn Borg, Jim Courier, Emilio Sanchez Vicario and Sergi Bruguera will take part in this event.Master Senior Championship
The matches will take place at the Palacio de Deportes of the Community which was inaugurated in 2005 after a fire burnt down the old building. It offers seats for 18000 people.

The six tenis player have won together over 240 prizes, 30 of them of the Grand Slam and 7 of the Masters.

70 Years Sport Photographies - Marca

One of the most popular sport newspapers in Spain is Marca. This year it is its 70th birthday and one of the activities to commemorate this event is an exhibition of sport photographies. They can be seen in the Corte Ingles located at Paseo de la Castellana during February 2008.
The exhibition will be shown at different Corte Ingles malls in Spain until December 2008.
It presents about 500 photographies showing not only famous sportsmen, but also interesting and historical sport events. All of them have been published in the newspaper.
Marca started its history 1938 in San Sebastian and four years later opened its offices in Madrid. 30000 copies of the first edition were sold. Nowadays Marca has over 2,3 million readers and over 5,6 million visitors in its webpage www.marca.com.
The exhibition was inaugurated today by Madrid´s mayor, Ruiz Gallardon, who stated that the city is supporting the project Madrid 2016 in order to celebrated the Olimpic Games of that year here. He also said that one of the dreams Marca shares with the citizens is the opportunity to write the headline “Madrid, site of the Olimpic Games 2016“.

New webpage for Olympic Games 2016

A new webpage dedicated to the projects regarding the Olympic Games 2016 has been presented today.
“It will offer a different and dynamic image of the city, trying to transmit optimism, illusion and confidence” said Madrid´s mayor Ruiz Gallardon.
The information will be offered in Spanish and English.
Of every ten inhabitants of Madrid nine support the candidacy to host the Games 2016.

Olympic Venues in Madrid 2016

The Olympic venues are going to be in different parts of Madrid and even different cities in Spain.
The main venues are going to be in the eastern part of Madrid with the Olympic stadium, water sports center, Olympic town, Real Madrid basketball hall and Ifema.
Next to river Manzanares, from the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid to Getafe, will be 9 sport sites for tennis, volleyball, archery finals, cycling, pentatlon, triatlon, riding and rhythmic gymnastics.

Outside of the city will be other sites like Paracuellos del Jarama for Olympic shooting, Coslada for volleyball, Getafe for rowing and Aranjuez for canoeing. Farther away, Valencia will host sailing and Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Cordoba, Malaga and Merida football.
