The Spanish National Organization fo Blind People opened in 1992 the Typholologic Museum. It offeres blind people the possibilty to touch all pieces shown in its exhibitions.
There are three different areas, one dedicated to scale models of the most important buildings and monuments in the world, like the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal and also Madrilian monuments like the Puerta de Alcala or the Cibeles. Also for people who can see it is interesting to “see” these monuments with their hands.
Another area is dedicated to art pieces made by blind artists and the third one shows typholological materials.
The museum is located at calle La Coruña and open from Tuesdays to Fridays from 1000 to 1400 and from 1700 to 2000. On Saturdays from 1000 to 1400. Entrance is free.

As you can imagine Plaza Mayor is full of bars with terraces prepared to receive as many visitors as possible. Plaza Mayor is
not only a meeting place but probablu also the most visited place inMadrid. Many tourists spend hours here watching people pass by.
Many of these bars are quite expensive, butthis is somethign we all know. You pay for your drink and for the place you are staying. This is something everybody takes into account. But at least what you take should be good, expensive but good.
One of these bars in La Torre del Oro, located next to the Tourist Office (Casa de la Panaderia). There tapas are not only incredibly expensive but also of bad quality. For example, fresh fried anchovies cost about 18€; you get exactly 9 (yes, 9) and they are inedible.
So it is better to try anywhere else!

Two exhibitions related to the uprising that took place in 1808 against the French have been opened this week.
One of them at Conde Duque (Conde Duque, 9-11) is dedicated to the events between March and December 1808 in Madrid and their main characters.
Here we will be able to learn how people lived two hundred years ago in this great city that then only had about 160000 inhabitants. Also places that do not exist any more will be shown to the visitor.
Through 190 items, like written letters, a burnt fan or paintings, we are transported to the past.
The other one, at the History Museum (Fuencarral, 78) is centered on the how the consequences of the war influenced Madrid´s cartography. We can see maps showing the places where the battles took place.
The exhibitions are free and will be open until October 25th.
Open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 1000 to 2100 and Sundays and Holidays from 1100 to 1430.
